John D. Rockefeller was the creator of the Standard Oil Company and a Philanthropist who had a net worth of $340 Billion. John D. Rockefeller brought in his net worth as an idol in the oil business. He founded and ran Standard Oil Company for 27 years, retiring in 1897. He also founded many organizations to help medical research, instruction and Science. His generosity helped to remove the sicknesses of yellow fever and hookworms. The more money he made, the more generous he became. He also gave support to Faculties like, Yale, Harvard, Weseley, Vassar, Columbia and other educational institutions. Rockefeller was born in Richford, Ny, along with his five siblings. His dad William Avery was not around very much and his mother Eliza was essentially a single mom, with her hands full. John worked to bring in more money and helped around the home whenever he could. Eventually his family moved to Moravia, Ny, afterward to Owego and he attended school at Owego Academy and then Folsom’s Commercial School to learn bookkeeping. When he finished school, he got work as an assistant bookkeeper for Hewitt and Tuttle, a produce commission business. He was just making 50 cents a day and he contributed 6 % of that to charity. Eventually John went into partnership with Maurice B. Clark and started their own modest produce commission business. After selling produce, he and his associate Clark constructed an oil refinery in Cleveland, Ohio, which was they possessed, in addition to Samuel Andrews and Clark’s two brothers. Two years after, John D. Rockefeller bought out the Clark Brothers and the company became, Rockefeller and Andrews. At one time he was regarded as the richest guy in all of history. His son, John Jr. followed in his footsteps and became in charge of his dads bases. John D. Rockefeller was a devout Christian and constantly gave in 10% tithe to his church. He taught Sunday school a the Erie Street Baptist Missionary Church, in addition to supplying services as a part time janitor, trustee and clerk.
